Klingon Batlith by Rae134 Klingon Batlith by Rae134
Klingon Batlith I bought my hubby for his birthday.

Someone might find this useful for reference.
Sorry poor quality, took it on my phone, when my camera has batteries I'll (hopefully) take better ones.

I really like it! The edges and angles look more Klingon to me, with them being harder and sharper and all, than the more familiar version. However, there are obvious flaws in this version... the hand grips. A Klingon is going to lose some fingers and or hands. :ohmygod: Still, it looks wonderful and I am sure your hubby was very happy. Anyone know if this in an official version of a bat'leth? I have seen another version in ST:TNG and or DS9 and it looked like it was made of wood and looked similar to this, but I can not remember.

I would assume, much like in human history, with just something as simple as a sword, the bat'leth went through possibly hundreds of different versions/variations and upgrades and some were from the same geographical area, while others were from other parts of the world looking totally different, yet still just as effective. They kept changing to suit the warrior's needs; they had to be able to get through multiple versions and upgrades of armour, or to be quicker or for personal defense or for one on one honour duels. The only reason why swords have not changed in recent times (Unless you include knife/sword makers, which are not official in my opinion and only for flash and show.) is because swords are not used anymore, or very rarely in practical applications or in good measure. Guns rule now, even in third world countries it seems. But in Klingon society, melee combat is still alive and strong in the far future, so there should be changes or different, even if similar versions. Then again, one could say, don't change something that is not broken, and maybe the Klingon cultures is more standing in that logic, but I feel there should be different versions.

Sorry for the long rant... again, nice pic. It shall be Faved. However, where did you find this item and how heavy is it? Is it as heavy as it would be if this was a real life weapon and made for a Klingon, or it weighs less for more puny human standards. Hahahaha! =D

it is a really beautiful blade, and it looks solid too,... is it a practical blade, or just a decoration piece?

oh you could do real damage with this one :D
even without the blade parts being shapend (being stainless steel, they could be) the points would do alot on their own as they are (feels nice to hold too)

with the blade edge on the outside of the curve, it makes me think of a klingon cavalry sabre(lol),....but then I have to wonder what a Klingon would ride(:

well, it's in the same style,... but a bathlethl has the blade edge on the concave of the blade, not the convex,... it's a really high quality looking piece, but if someone sold it as a klingon bathlethl,... then they were ripping someone off,... doesn't matter,... I still like the piece(:
